Silicon Carbide (SiC): Blasting and Foundries Additive

Silicon Carbide: Blasting Media, Refractory & Foundry Additive

  • Black Silicon Carbide (SiC) is produced at high temperature in an electric resistance type furnace with quarts sand and petroleum coke. It stands out through a series of excellent physical characteristics, like: high hardness high electric and thermal conductivity low thermal expansion outstanding thermal shock resistance.
  • Silicon Carbide Grit is the hardest blasting media available (9.3 Mohs scale). Its grains are black hexagonal crystals with fragile and sharp properties. High Purity with Minimal Contaminants. The hardness of Silicon Carbide Grit allows for shorter blast times relative to softer medias.
  • Silicon Carbide, Refractory and Foundry Additive is widely used in: refractory bricks monolithic refractory materials reinforcing filler coating materials and production of SiC-based refractory composites by combining black SiC with other materials.
