Steel Grit Description

Blasting Rooms
Abrasive Blasting in Blasting Rooms
  • The blasting lead shots distributed by GritSablare are alloyed with Chromium and manufactured through a rigorous production process, different from the ones used for other conventional items of the same type. Thus, a conventional steel-made abrasive material is manufactured by casting, which entails the use of particles affected by fissures and inner cracks. Over time, these fissures and cracks reduce the cutting force and the operation period of such abrasive material. The blasting shots distributed by us are made of forged steel scraps, used for manufacturing bearings, alloyed with Chromium. This material implicitly has a higher density than cast steel and the steel shots manufactured form such material will have a longer re-use period because their abrasive particles will have a perfectly angular shape, thus being better preserved during multiple blasting cycles.
  • The blasting lead grit particles have been designed specifically for blasting extremely tough surfaces, such as: granite, steel surfaces, etc. They have been chosen for this purpose, due to their superior cutting properties, which remain very stable over time even in multiple re-using operations. The high uniformity of particle sizes provides a high and constant blasting force, for each granule projected on the blasting surface. After the blasting process, the treated surfaces bear a smooth look, without traces of unevenness and roughness.
  • An ideal abrasive material for blasting rooms. This abrasive material bears a high particle density, it shows minimum micro-structure deficiencies and optimal mechanic characteristics, all of which provide this material with a significant resistance during repeated blasting operations without losing its sharpness and its particle cutting force. This insures a re-usability rate of almost 100% for the same material, thus generating substantial savings for the blasting processes executed.

Superior Quality Product

Premium steel grit is superior in terms of quality compared to other similar products on the market as a result of two factors: (1) Chromium alloy and, (2) the manufacturing process which is very carefully defined in all the operational phases, starting with the selection of the raw materials:

I. Raw material

The raw material used to produce the premium steel grit consists of bearing steel scrap. This material is superior in quality compared to other raw materials used to produce common types of steel grit because of its tenacity.

Car parts
Cleaning car parts
Dirty car parts full of grease and rust? The blasting steel grit is successfully used in cleaning car parts, being particularly effective on corners, blades, screwing areas, ditches and narrow spaces. After cleaning, the parts regain a shining effect without making a significant effort.

Restoring car rims’ look
Restoring car rims’ look
In time, the rims of your car show traces of rust or scratches. Before deciding to replace them, try cleaning them by means of abrasive grit blasting. The surface remains perfectly clean, ready to be covered in primer, paints or in specialprotective polishes. This procedure may be used both on tin sheet rims and on rims made of alloys, the blasting effect being excellent in both cases.

Other Applications:
  • Blasting steel structures;
  • Tanks and pipes;
  • Industrial processes;
  • Civil Engineering;
  • Hydro-technical constructions;
  • Blasting for Industrial Painting.

Grit Steel User Safety

Steel Grit is a safe, ecologic and stable material. It does not need special attention while handled. Wearing personal protection equipment is necessary, as well as avoiding eye contact. Storing this material does not require special conditions. All it needs is a good air ventilation in the storage space.

In case of inhalation, the affected person must be taken out, to fresh air, and kept in a comfortable position so he/she can breathe properly. If he/she has difficulties breathing, oxygen can be administered. If he/she stops breathing, CPR manoeuvres can be performed. In this case, a medical intervention is also necessary.

Avoid direct contact with the skin. If your skin entered in direct contact with this abrasive material, you must wash the affected area with clean water for 20 minutes. Use a soft soap and clean water.

In case of ingestion, a doctor’s intervention is necessary. All treatments applied to the victim must take into account the symptoms showed by that victim.

Avoid walking through the material and always wear personal protective equipment. In case of leakages, one must insulate the area on an approximately 25 meters radius in all directions. It is forbidden to spill this material in water. Please avoid dust. Use professional vacuum cleaners to clean the area.
